Winter is coming, but the fun never stops in Happy Valley. There are always major sporting events, festivals and performances just around the corner.

Here are some of the best upcoming winter events.

Holiday Events

First Night State College – December 31

First Night State College is a great family-friendly event to close the chapter on one year and look forward to another. This annual winter festival takes place in many different Downtown State College venues. Stroll around town and look at the many different ice sculptures that line the sidewalks. Or, if you don’t want to walk, see the sculptures the old fashioned way by taking a horse drawn carriage ride.

The annual First Night State College Resolution Run will begin at 6:30PM on the corner of College Ave. and Allen St. Both runners and walkers will enjoy this course and costumes are encouraged!

Out of our six properties, the Days Inn Penn State (website) is the most convenient for this event. Located in Downtown State College, the Days Inn is just a short walk from the primary First Night attractions.

Bellefonte Victorian Christmas —December 7-9

Celebrate the holidays in the quaint town of Bellefonte. The 31st Annual Bellefonte Victorian Christmas is sure to be another memorable weekend as a new event has been added to the festival’s schedule.

Bellefonte Homes Tour – Walk around town and give yourself a tour of some of the most beautifully decorated Victorian style homes.

Carriage Rides - Carriage rides will be offered Friday through Sunday.

Dinner with Dickens & Company – Enjoy a family dinner buffet with the characters of “A Christmas Carol.” A good time is sure to be had by all, as there will be skits, old time parlor games and more. Reservations are required. For more information click here.
