As we get closer and closer to Valentine’s Day, it’s time to think of ways to spend time with that special someone.

We recommend dining at two of our special restaurants, The Carnegie House Restaurant at the Carnegie Inn & Spa (website) and Gigi’s Restaurant and Wine Lounge (website) for the ideal escape.

Both of these locations provide the perfect setting for a special evening and are two of the top locations for fine dining in State College.

This year, Valentine’s Day falls on a Thursday. Why not stay an extra day and enjoy all that the Carnegie Inn & Spa has to offer? (Valentine reservations are being accepted for arrivals up to Friday as Saturday is currently booked.)

Carnegie is offering two unforgettable romantic getaway specials. Check them out here. Can’t you see yourself spending some time relaxing in this rejuvenating spa?

The Inn’s Restaurant has been named “Best Romantic Dinner” in State College by the readers of State College magazine and it’s easy to see why.

The cozy intimate atmosphere of the European-style inn provides a sense of comfort and elegance, and not just at the dinner table. Before the meal, guests can order drinks and sample canapés in the Inn’s library after they order.

Once it’s prepared, you are escorted to your table where you can enjoy your meal right away. But after dinner, the nights’s not over. Stay and enjoy after-dinner drinks and dessert.

Award-winning Executive Chef Lisa Palermo has put together a special Valentine’s weekend menu. Click here to see the menu.

One recent guest had this to say about the menu:

“I can't say enough about my dinner (I ordered the filet mignon – I think most expensive item on the menu). It was much more than I would normally spend on dinner but it was quite amazing. Maybe the best filet mignon have ever had." You can read the full review and others on our TripAdvisor page here.

Our newest restaurant , Gigi’s Restaurant and Wine Lounge, has burst onto the State College dining scene.

Gigi’s is featuring a special Valentine’s Day five-course tasting menu with two different seatings, 6 and 8 p.m. Executive Chef Jeremy Naugle created an outstanding five-course meal for New Year’s Eve and it’s exciting to see what he has in store for Valentine’s Day. (View menu)

Located at the corner of West College and Cato Avenue, Gigi’s features cozy seating areas throughout the restaurant. It’s especially nice if you are near the fireplace which is perfect on a cold State College night.

And with 14 rotating drafts and a seasonal martini menu, Gigi’s bar is a nice spot to socialize before or after your meal.

The price for the Valentine’s dinner is $55 per person. To reserve your table at Gigi’s, call 1-814-861-3463.
