This summer, treat yourself to a relaxing weekend getaway filled with fantastic golf, dining, and spa treatments in Happy Valley.

Situated in the woods of Toftrees, away from the hustle of bustle of downtown State College, are two fantastic options for an enjoyable weekend right next door to each other –The Carnegie Inn & Spa and Toftrees Golf Resort and Conference Center.

Both have won signature awards for their services and when you visit either venue, it will be easy to see why.

The Carnegie House Restaurant at the Carnegie Inn & Spa has repeatedly earned the “Best Fine Dining” award by readers of State College Magazine. In 2012, the restaurant received the “Best Romantic Dinner” recognition for the first time.

In addition to the standard menu, Executive Chef Lisa Palermo routinely creates special menus, geared towards certain times of the year and special occasions.

And as you will come to see, dining at Carnegie is an experience that goes unmatched in the State College area. Click here to read a full first-hand account of a dining experience at the restaurant.

Guests who stay at Carnegie will be pleased to know that each morning of their stay they can receive a complimentary made-to-order breakfast served in the dining room.

The spa at Carnegie is run by Esspa Kozmetika, which strives to provide the best personalized spa experience for each guest. Services and facilities at the spa include: Seven private treatment rooms, steam rooms and a state-of-the-art manicure and pedicure area.

After your treatment, spend some time in the spa’s relaxation area which directly overlooks the 17th green at Toftrees.

And it gets better. Guests can order light fare from the menu and have it delivered to them to enjoy before or after their treatments.

A spa treatment could be just the thing you need to prepare for an enjoyable round of golf at Toftrees (or a perfect recovery from a frustrating round).

Golf Digest’s “Places to Play” has given Toftrees a 4.5 star rating out of 5 and named it as one of the top public golf courses in Pennsylvania.

Toftrees Course is spectacularly beautiful, with rolling hills, deep tree lines along the fairways and several spectacular water hazards. The course was designed in a way to give golfers a private experience on each hole.

But don’t let the beauty of the course distract you. This course can be very tough with four holes that stretch over 500 yards and two others that reach over 600 yards in distance, depending on which tee boxes you hit from.

The most challenging hole on the course may be the Par 4 9th, which requires golfers to navigate their shots around the main water hazard. Once past the water, the next challenge comes in the form of three bunkers that surround the green.

No matter what your skill level is, a round of golf at Toftrees will prove to be a memorable experience. Click here to schedule a tee time.
